I’m John, the photographer behind CJ Lightcraft Photography, based in East Aurora and serving Western New York.

My work is rooted in real moments—the intensity of competition, the personality behind an athlete, the confidence of a senior, and the connections that make an image worth keeping. I’m drawn to photography that feels honest, intentional, and cinematic without becoming artificial or overproduced.

As an educator, husband, and father of three, I understand that not everyone feels comfortable in front of a camera. I provide direction when it is helpful, leave room for genuine moments to happen, and work to create an experience that feels relaxed rather than stiff or forced.

Whether I’m covering a game, creating a portrait, or documenting a meaningful event, my goal is the same: to tell the story clearly and create photographs that still matter after the moment has passed.
